Commercial data cabling and office networks
A network project starts with the layout of your premises: workstations, meeting rooms, printers, access points and equipment locations. We discuss your current needs and planned expansion so that cable routes and connection points support the way you use the building.
- Structured cabling and Ethernet connections for work areas
- Network equipment placement and connection planning
- Business Wi-Fi and wired access point connections
- Network changes during office moves and tenant improvements
Networking for offices and warehouses
Offices need connectivity across desks, meeting spaces and shared areas. Warehouses present a different layout, with shelving, equipment and changing work zones. Tell us where connections are needed and where your current network falls short. The installation scope can then address the actual building and workflow, rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all equipment list.
Connect cameras and door access to your network
Plan network capacity and cable routes alongside commercial security cameras and access control systems. Considering these systems together helps identify equipment locations and installation dependencies before work begins. Compatibility with existing equipment is reviewed as part of project planning.
What affects a structured cabling quote?
The number of connections, cable routes, building access, existing infrastructure and installation schedule all affect the scope. A floor plan and a list of devices are useful starting points. If you are moving into a leased space, include any landlord requirements and your target occupancy date.
Ethernet, Cat6 cabling and fibre-optic links
Structured cabling is the physical connection system behind your business network. Copper Ethernet runs, patch panels, data outlets and fibre-optic links serve different parts of that system. Cat6 or other cable categories should be selected for the application and installed environment, rather than chosen from a label alone. We review device locations, cable pathways, distances and the intended equipment before defining the specification.
Business Wi-Fi, access points and network cabinets
Wireless coverage starts with where people and devices actually work. Offices, meeting rooms, loading zones and warehouse aisles need a layout-specific assessment. Access points still need planned network connections and suitable power arrangements. Cabinet placement also matters: leave access for maintenance, cable management and future additions. Switch ports, uplinks and Power over Ethernet requirements should be considered together.
Labelling, testing and usable handover records
An installed cable is more useful when the team can identify where it goes. Agree the naming convention for outlets, patch panels and devices before installation. Define the required cable testing and documentation in the quote, including how results will be delivered. A handover can include connection schedules, marked-up drawings and equipment information so future fault-finding does not start with tracing every cable from scratch.
Connecting several buildings or business locations
A campus or multi-building property needs coordinated pathways and equipment locations. Our 13-building fibre network documents related previous team experience before CL ELECTRIC’s Canadian operations. For a new site, discuss the physical routes, building access and network responsibilities. For separate branches, agree common documentation and support arrangements while allowing for each location’s different infrastructure.

Frequently asked questions
Can you help with an office move?
Yes. We can discuss cabling, equipment locations and Wi-Fi requirements for the new space. Share your move date early so the network work can be coordinated with the rest of the fit-out.
Can existing cabling be reused?
Possibly. Its condition, layout and suitability for the intended equipment need to be checked before deciding what can remain.
Do I need both Ethernet and Wi-Fi?
That depends on the devices and work areas. Many offices use wired connections for fixed equipment alongside Wi-Fi for mobile devices. We can discuss a suitable mix for your premises.
